World Tuberculosis Day 2026: A Global Call to Act
Every year on March 24th, the world pauses to observe World Tuberculosis Day. The date honors the moment in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch announced his discovery of the bacteria that causes tuberculosis (TB)—a breakthrough that fundamentally changed the course of medical science and paved the way for modern diagnosis and treatment.
Why This Day Matters
World Tuberculosis Day is an important moment to raise awareness about how TB affects millions of lives and impacts not just health, but also the social and economic fabric of communities across the globe. It reminds us of the urgent need to strengthen our efforts, inspire action, and push for stronger policies and programs that can help end TB for good.
This day is also a reminder that the fight against this deadly disease is not just for health workers or governments—it’s for all of us. It’s a chance to unite, speak up, and stand together to protect our families, our communities, and our future.
